Class Warfare

Advanced by Bob Herbert at New York Times:
What’s really needed is for working Americans to form alliances and try, in a spirit of good will, to work out equitable solutions to the myriad problems facing so many ordinary individuals and families. Strong leaders are needed to develop such alliances and fight back against the forces that nearly destroyed the economy and have left working Americans in the lurch.
RTWT.

It'a big long whiny rant against wealth and Wall Street. Herbert begrudges the market's exuberant comeback I
mentioned previously, citing the same article: "Signs of Swagger, Wallets Out, Wall St. Dares to Indulge." And of course Herbert, ensconced at the cushy offices of the Old Grey Lady, doesn't speak truth to what he's really pushing: the anti-capitalist revolution. And further it's not as if we aren't seeing the development of "such alliances" fighting back "against the forces that nearly destroyed the economy." They're all around, actually. Most people don't like them, regular people, because in the end those bitter clingers understand that the proletarian left wants them dead:

This post is a rather lame ad hom.

Instead of using facts, reason and logic to argue against Herbert's position you just appeal to the old "REAL Americans" meme (in this case "regular people") in order to claim that everyone who doesn't like being subservient to the richest 1% is a Che-shirted freak. These appeals to authority and emotion won't work forever. Sooner or later you're going to have to address the grotesque problem of economic inequality in the US and it's going to become increasingly hard to keep demonizing the opposition as a bunch of commies rather than hard-working folks who would like a decent living. I know you think that the poor are lazy and only the rich work hard, but that simply isn't the case.

How do you know? And how do you know I don't care about inequality? I just don't like commies, and nothing you've said contradicts what I've written. Herbert's a spoiled hypocritical hack who should STFU. Most Americans really don't care for the commies, and I notice you're not arguing against them.

AJB, we are only subservient to that 1% if we allow government to collude with them to tilt the playing field in their favor ... and Progressive policies EXPAND the opportunities for such collusion.

I don't desire subservience to them ... or to those profit-phobic "public servant" dim bulbs who have the potential to be far more oppressive by imposing a soft, cuddly fascism upon us all "for our own good", telling us to subordinate our decision-making authority to their "superior" intellects, sit down, shut up, and shell out.

Without that collusion, that 1% won't hold on to their wealth for long unless they truly serve the interest of the consumer, for they can't hold legitimate competitors back without that collusion ... otherwise, Sam Walton wouldn't have ever got past Wal-Mart #2, and those that will inevitably supplant Wal-Mart in the future would never have a chance to get ahead.
