Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs: Abdulmutallab 'BS-ing' al Qaeda Ties

Charles Johnson spends his times trolling around the Internet, looking for freaked out "wingnut hysteria," and here we have LGF dismissing Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's radical Islamist ties. This was on Saturday, and by that time we already knew the suspect's deep ties to the al Qaeda network. Recall the early editorial at London's Telegraph, "Analysis: Detroit Terror Attack is a Major Intelligence and Security Failure." Later that day, I wrote, "Revisiting the 'Terrorist Threat Debate'."

Would it really hurt to grant the guy AQ bona fides? I mean - incinerating his especial purpose in a supplication to become shaheed and failing (thus making reconstituted body parts in Paradise suspect) is tough enough. Painting him as a lone extremist seems to lack compassion for his self inflicted misery and honorless shame.
I thought I saw that CJ remarked later that if it was PETN, then that was serious. I don't recall if that was before or after making an ass of himself regarding the video he claimed could teach one how to make such an explosive device and hide it in a common object, as though the splodies don't already know it.
Why is it I am starting to think that The Johnson and Janet "Reno II" Napolitano have the same pharmacist?
And what is it with the left's fascination with AQ vs. your garden variety barbarian Jihadist?
They are all Islamic terrorists, and they all share the exact same goal: Islamic domination of the entire f'ing planet.
At the end of the day, does it really matter whether the bomb that brings down an airliner was brought on board by a loan whack job, or one who had the help and support of hundreds?
Does it really matter if the organization calls itself AQ or Dune Monkey Demolition, Inc.?
It isn't going to make much difference to the passengers on the plane when it impacts the ground, as they are going to be just as dead regardless.

even if it was "just an incendiary" (it was PETN, but hey' good ole charlie never let the facts get in the way...) has anyone here heard of THERMITE?
it's iron oxide and aluminum. quite easy to make an conceal (it's a powder, just like the PETN) a tiny bit of magnesium to get it going..and it's impossible to extinguish (produces it's own oxygen) burns at 2500 °C (4500 °F) and placed on the floor over the wing (as if in a shoe or bag on the floor of the cabin) could at the minimum cause an emergency landing..at most..start fuel or hydraulics burning and cause a crash.
so "just an incendiary" is no reason to write this guy off as am amateur.
